Location: Newark, New Jersey (Onsite)
Salary: $21-$25/hr. Weekly Pay!
Job Type: Contract to hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9AM-1PM (Part-time)
Key Responsibilities:
Blood Collection:
Perform venipunctures (blood draws) and capillary (fingerstick) collections from patients, ensuring a high level of skill and comfort during the procedure.
Label and accurately document all blood samples with patient information.
Prepare and transport samples to the laboratory for testing in a timely manner.
Patient Care & Communication:
Greet and reassure patients before, during, and after the blood draw process to ensure their comfort and minimize anxiety.
Explain procedures to patients, answering any questions to ensure they are informed and at ease.
Assist patients with questions or concerns related to the blood draw process.
Laboratory Support:
Ensure the proper handling, processing, and storage of specimens according to established protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following infection control and safety protocols.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of specimens to maintain proper chain of custody.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Follow all safety and health regulations, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
Maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
Adhere to clinic policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
Participate in regular training and certification programs to stay up-to-date with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Administrative & Clerical Duties:
Document patient information, lab results, and other necessary records accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Assist with scheduling patient appointments for blood draws and related laboratory services.
Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure the timely processing and reporting of laboratory results.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred.
Certification from a recognized phlebotomy organization (e.g., ASCP, NHA, or AABB) is highly preferred.
Previous experience in phlebotomy or a clinical laboratory setting is an advantage.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and infection control protocols.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in patient and sample information.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy, particularly veins and arteries.
Strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Pay Details: $21.00 to $25.00 per hour
