Job Description Summary
"The Phlebotomist is the front-line representative of Laboratory Services. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for the following:1) Blood sample collection by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick.
2) Properly identifying patients prior to performing blood collection.
3) Following Laboratory protocols and procedures for blood collection.
4) Collection and other information into Laboratory Information System.
5) Ensuring that collected specimens are delivered to appropriate Laboratory department.
6) Maintaining properly stocked supplies on phlebotomy cart or tray and supply room.
7) Operating and performing patient testing on Point-of-Care Laboratory Instruments.
8) Assist with receiving specimens from Tube System and distributing specimens to correct department.
8) Training new-hire phlebotomist.
9) Good customer service skills.
10) Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Laboratory Director.

Additional Job Description
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy from an accredited school preferred
Experience: One year phlebotomy experience preferred
Licenses/Certificates: Certification in phlebotomy preferred. BLS REQUIRED
