OVERVIEW:
Physical Therapy Assistant to provide direct patient care services under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for documenting patient treatments, changes in condition and other pertinent information as required. The successful candidate will also provide treatment and appropriate therapeutic techniques specific to the age and condition of each patient.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer treatment programs as established by Physical Therapists

Focus on providing the highest quality treatment for patients that allows for excellent patient outcomes

Assess patient condition using knowledge of basic biological and medical science

Propose treatment goals and objectives
-
Implement patient treatment plans with guidance from the Physical Therapist
-
Perform certain aspects of patient evaluation and interventions
-
Instruct patients on physical therapy interventions, modalities and home exercise programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Associate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
-
Valid PTA license in state of practice
-
Current CPR and first aid certification
-
3+ years' clinical experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviewing patients’ medical histories

Diagnosing patients by observing their movements and listening to their concerns

Developing individualized treatment plans for patients

Outlining clear goals for patients and the expected outcomes of the plan

Using exercises, stretching, equipment, and hands-on therapy to manage patients’ pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury.

Recording patients’ progress and modifying the plan of care if needed
-
Educating patients and family members about the recovery process
-
Consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms.

Assisting patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers
-
Advising the patient and family about in-home treatment options and exercises
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Master of Science or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
-
Successful completion of National Certification Examination
-
Valid PT license in state of practice
