Physical Therapist at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas:
- The Physical Therapist serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas.
- The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning and implementing interventions for hospitalized patients according to age specific needs.
- ThePhysical Therapist assesses the needs and is familiar with the status of their assigned patients’ on the department’s service.
- The Physical Therapist reviews with the patient and caregiver the current diagnosis, prognosis and treatment goals while planning and implementing a safe and timely treatment plan.
- The Physical Therapist works as part of a team in association with the patient’s physician, the department Director and other members of the interdisciplinary team to assure timely, safe and cost-effective therapy is being delivered.

Education:
·Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Program, MS (PT) required, DPT preferred.
·Maintains continuing education credits as required by the State
Licensure/Certification:
·Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
·BLS

Required Experience:
·Minimum of 1-year Physical Therapy experience in a hospital setting

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
·Assumes the responsibility for assessing and implementing the rehabilitative needs of the patient
- Responsible for the interventions provided to the patient on behalf of the Physical Therapy department.
- Monitors effectiveness of interventions, orders and protocols on patient care.
- Monitors patient response to therapy. Reports any adverse response to patient’s physician or responsible medical staff.
- Provides education to patients and their caregivers as per physician order, based on need and learning level.
·Ensures department attendance to interdisciplinary treatment conferences, effective communication of care plan goals and relevant information for each patient.
·Utilizes proper documentation of assessments on standardized form/ Cerner and placement in Therapies section of medical record.
·Reviews and audits documentation of therapy services rendered and any adverse responses, for appropriateness and accuracy in medical record.
·Utilizes all resources available to effectively operate within the department.
- Assesses and ensures the department’s equipment, supplies and materials are adequate to meet patient needs.
- Follows up on all documentation or patient care deficiencies.
- Assists in development and implementation of department resources.
- Ensures all competencies, evaluations, licensures and certifications are current.
