About the Job
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Physical Therapist in the Outpatient Wound Clinic. Here, you will involve the patient /client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care. The physical therapist, in consultation with appropriate disciplines, plans for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provides for appropriate follow-up referral. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Consistent with the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) and the Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act, Physical Therapists examine, evaluate, test, and work to alleviate mechanical, physiological or developmental impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or other health and movement related conditions, classifying these disorders, determining a rehabilitation prognosis and plan of therapeutic intervention, and assessing the ongoing effects of the interventions.
Essential Job Functions
- Recommends appropriate treatment intensity and discharges patient when the individual no longer meets criteria for level of service, meets goals, reaches prior level of function or is no longer in need of / benefitting from skilled intervention.
- Complies with billing practices per department protocol
- Accountable for appropriate use of department and hospital resources
- Meets productivity standards as defined by the department
- Responds to the emotional and physical needs of patients
- Advocates for individuals to receive the appropriate services in the appropriate setting
- Meets core clinical competencies for level of care and completes annual competencies as per department
- Seeks educational opportunities to advance clinical skills; regularly attends department in services, as appropriate
- Works with others to improve level of skill throughout the department
- Seeks and implements use of evidence-based practice
- Documents results and recommendations, interdisciplinary communication per department protocol; documents skilled service and supports billing
- Demonstrates IMH standards of service
- Sensitive to various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Actively participates in providing suggestions to department Seniors/Coordinators to improve daily operations, employee satisfaction
- Demonstrates a solution-oriented approach towards obstacles
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and/or improved service delivery
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited program with minimum bachelor’s degree, Master’s or Doctorate preferred
- Licensed, or eligible, in the state of IL with Notification of eligibility for examination
- Specific practice areas may require advanced certification or previous experience to address patient care needs
- Basic computer proficiency. Effective verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with other cultures or those with language or cognitive impairments. Foreign graduates shall submit certification of passage of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and The Test of Spoken English (TSE)
