Position Purpose
As a Physician_Academic Psychiatrist, Employee provides clinical care either directly or through supervision of residents/fellows in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. Employee may deliver clinical care and supervision of clinical care to patients within their scop of practice and licensure which may include children, adolescents, or adults. This position is responsible for evaluating patients and delivering psychiatric (therapy, somatic, and psychosocial interventions) services to individuals, couples, families, and groups within regulatory and/or accrediting guidelines. The employee also provides clinical teaching, didactic teaching, and administrative duties as defined by the role.
In addition to clinical FTE value, a teaching FTE value will be dedicated to performing the role of Psychiatry Clerkship Director/Clinical Assistant Professor. The function of your teaching role is to:

The position involves working in tandem with departmental leadership in the organization, implementation, and supervision of essential training experiences. Duties include but not limited to the clinical supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, didactic teaching responsibilities, and committee participation.

Overall responsibilities:
• Faculty must become certified and maintain American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification.
• Work with the program leadership to ensure the programs missions and aims are being met.
• Work continuously to adhere to Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and/or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) based on assigned roles.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to the education and teaching.
• Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to education.
• Assist with the development and implementation of evaluation tools.
• Lead or participate in projects designed to improve, enhance, and support the quality of training.
Other:
• Perform additional administrative, clinical, and supervisory functions, in support of program initiatives, as defined by the chair.
• Core Faculty report to the Department Chair/Chief.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments, questions to the appropriate management person, and follows administrative policies. The incumbent has responsibilities for clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows within their scope of practice. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff and UNR Med. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field. The incumbent is expected to provide teaching duties and educational administrative duties that are assigned and agreed upon within the affiliation with University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

This position provides patient care, teaching duties, and academic administrative duties.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent (such as MBBS or MBChB), or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Experience:
Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred.
License(s):
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s):
Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification(s) must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
