If you work at a Children's Habilitation Center, you will promote and maintain patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. Contribute to a physician's efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues. Recommend options and courses of action for patient care. Implements physician directives. Assess patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examinations, including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies, and interpreting test results-documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections. Provide care by developing and implementing patient management plans. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
What is needed to be successful in the role:
Excellent communication skills are a must. Health, promotion and maintenance of CHC policies and procedures, along with NHA guidance. Understanding IDPH, DCFS, and HIPPA, Thoroughness in recordkeeping and charting. Clinical skills with a background in MC/DD children are a plus. Encouraging medical teamwork for excellence in the continuum of care. Physiological knowledge, infection control, medication administration, and pain management are essential. Also, a constant hunger for self-development will complement the care for the children immensely.
Physician Assistant Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program
- State license
- BLS certification
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Previous Hospital or Emergency Department experience is a must ( two years minimum)
