Job Summary
Geisinger's Cancer Institute is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our inpatient cancer team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville, PA. The APP will be joining a team of 7 other experienced APPs as well as fellows in a dynamic inpatient learning environment. This exciting career involves care of patients in a rotating schedule on our malignant hematology inpatient service line and oncology consult service. It includes care of patients with solid tumors as well as acute leukemia, high grade lymphoma, and allo/auto bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients.The optimal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as an APP in a cancer or adult medicine field (preferably in the inpatient setting), however less experienced candidates will be considered accordingly.This individual will perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. APP will ultimately be an advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.Location: Living in central PA offers convenient community living, a balanced professional career, and proximity to New York City, Harrisburg and Philadelphia.Job Duties
- Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
- Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
- Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients in coordination with the outpatient cancer institute team.
- Participate with joints rounds with attending and fellows.
- Obtains or assists in the prior auth process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments as time allows.
- Once competent, will perform bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures.
- Involvement in BMT meetings and implementing BMT policies and procedures as time allows.
- Assistance in implementing Geisinger and/or Cancer institute special initiatives as time allows.

-Max of 14 shifts/month, typically in a 1 week on/1 week off rotating schedule
-80 hrs of CME + Generous PTO
-12 hours shifts (7:00p-7:00a/7:00a-7:00p)
-Night shift rotation w night incentive
-Coverage to include weekends and holidays
