About the Job
Fairview Health Services is seeking a Physician Assistant Surgery Informatics Program Director. This role provides clinical and informatics leadership to information technology (“IT”) projects in the surgical setting. The Informatics Program Director of Surgery will work with clinical, operational, and IT leaders across the enterprise to provide IT strategy and guidance for surgical workflows across clinics and hospitals. The Program Director is 0.4 admin FTE and up to 0.6 clinical FTE.
In conjunction with Fairview IT and the senior informatics leadership, establishes strategy and workplan for areas of responsibility with surgical based care. Provide expertise in surgical care including clinic, perioperative medicine, hospital medicine and emergency department expertise to design technology, digital, or data associated solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical visioning and strategic planning for the electronic health record (“EHR”) and other health information technology (“HIT”) for areas of responsibility with surgical based care
- Increasing the organization’s data literacy and use of data for decision-making at various consumption points (e.g., health IT, clinical decision support, data assets)
- Co-leading IT prioritization and governance to optimize our IT investments and outcomes for the organization
- Advancing digital capabilities
- Designing, configuring and optimizing EHR/HIT, data, and digital assets as partners with IT and operations
- Working with clinical, operational, and IT leaders across the surgical areas to deliver and optimize perioperative IT tools that provide quality, safety and efficiency to our surgical clinics, OR’s, ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals
- Determining optimal standardized workflows and encourage systematization to the benefit of M Health Fairview and the patients we serve

Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- BC/BE through NCCPA
- Licensed or ability to obtain a PA license with prescriptive authority through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
- Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- 3 years of clinical experience
Preferred:
- Preferred 3 years of experience in a leadership role or with experience partnering in leading and implementing systemwide projects
- Preferred advanced degree in informatics or a master’s degree in Computer Science, Health-related Science, Education, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
