Purpose Statement/Position Summary:The Physician Assistant (PA) II provides clinical support on the inpatient units and/or outpatient clinic settings. The PA II participates in medical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric conditions, and in special therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities include obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, communicating treatment plans, obtaining and evaluation required laboratory tests and assisting in the comprehensive care of patients on the acute care units, emergency department, or in the operating room. The PA II functions under an established practice agreement and in collaboration with other health care professionals to diagnose and manage patients' health care needs. The PA II is a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, patient advocate and mentor for PA colleague development. The PA II demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care and assists in the analysis of the CHLA health care delivery system to provide optimal care.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2 years or more of professional Physician Assistant experience.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Master's degree is required, and a graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Current PA licensure, PA certification in the State of California, certification as a Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited Physician Assistant organization (NCCPA) and American Heart Association CPR/BLS certification are all required.
