The new role of the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Physician Lead – Fall River, MA is critical to ensure optimal quality, service, regulatory/policy compliance, and efficiency of the ambulatory practice location(s), and hospital service line in this designated market. The Physician Lead, in partnership with the Chief of OB/GN, and Director of Operations and Practice Administrator will be accountable for managing all dimensions of practice development, growth, and performance including clinical, cultural, operational, and financial. Physician Leaders must be self-driven and committed to effectively execute this role while keeping the organization’s mission statement and best interests as priority.
Reports to: Chief, Obstetrics and Gynecology
Scope and Duties
Practice Leadership
- Work with Practice Manager to drive ongoing operational improvement and successfully manage change.
- Mentor new providers and be a role model to staff.
- Take the lead in assessing staff satisfaction and identify actions to lead to improvement.
- Collaborate with Chief to develop a recruitment strategy and when indicated, participate in the vetting and interviewing process.
- Work collaboratively with leadership team in all respects.
Charlton Hospital Family Centered Unit
- In collaboration with the Chief of OBGYN, Executive Director of Family Centered Unit and Director of Operations, lead the Charlton site department of OBGYN in all respects.
- Help to both grow and strive to strategize retention within the department.
- Foster a culture of safety, compassion, communication, and respect.
- Work together with leadership team at St. Luke’s Hospital with coordinated efforts.
Clinical/Quality Standards
- Monitor provider performance and implement plans and actions in collaboration with Chief to result in success and to address any issues hindering highest quality of care.
- Assure all members of the care team function to the highest level commensurate with their training and position.
- Assure patient satisfaction is meeting or exceeding target goals.
- Providers are meeting or exceeding quality metrics determined annually.
Productivity/Financial Outcomes
- Understand the ambulatory practice financials and ensure adherence to budgets.
- The practice meets or exceeds patient access standards.
- All members of the care team are utilized to their fullest capacity.
- In collaboration with appropriate systems departments, i.e., Corporate Compliance and Billing and Coding, as well as with the Practice Administrator, ensure providers are appropriately trained and adhering to contemporary coding, documentation and billing standards including E&M, procedural based, ICD-10

- 9 physician practice supported by 7 Certified Nurse Midwives & 3 Nurse Practitioners with reputation for quality and community commitment.
- Family Centered Unit at Charlton Memorial Hospital maternity unit offers excellence in obstetrical care.
- Approximately 1400 deliveries per year,
- Board certified / board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- In process of developing an OB Hospitalist laborist program
- State-of-the-art Level II Nursery staffed by Boston Children's Hospital physicians with 24/7 in house Level II provider.
- 24-7 Maternal Fetal Medicine consultative/support/transfer Services with Women and Infants Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island
- Gynecologic Oncology Program led by Dr. Tina Robison and affiliated with Tufts Medical Center with 24-7 consultative/support/transfer services.
- Urogynecology consultative/support/transfer and co-management, outpatient, and inpatient
- Opportunity to participate in scheduled OBGYN educational Grand Rounds held quarterly and M&M conference held within the organization.
