About the Job
Responsibilities:Providing direct patient care in High Risk Obstetrics antepartum, and postpartum care.Providing direct patient care for Gynecological patients, both outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures as needed.Developing, reviewing, and implementing clinical practice guidelines and protocols for OB-GYN department.Facilitating staff development activities such as clinical practice updates and continuing education for OB-GYN staff.Reviewing clinical practice by developing and participating in medical record audits, peer review, and other practice review activities; assists with clinical data review.Providing direct inpatient care through hospital OB/GYN hospitalist program (if inpatient OB shifts are desired).Participating in High Risk Obstetrical patient Case Management Group as needed.Participating in hospital OB-GYN Department Operations, Quality, and Safety Committees (i.e. Perinatal Executive, OB Quality) and Continuing Education Activities.Participating in hospital OB/GYN Department meetings.Supervising the clinical practice of MDs and Advanced Practice Clinicians providing OB-GYN services, including sharing with the Lead Ob and Lead Gyn Physicians 5 day/week coverage of task boxes and availability for phone or in-person urgent consultations. Providing medical practice perspective and guidance to primary care partnerships with other organizations, community partners, and Public Health Department.Facilitating and coordinating medical student/resident training opportunities.Providing medical perspective and leadership in critical incident reviews and other medical practice aspects of risk management.Developing, reviewing, and implementing clinical practice guidelines and protocols related to sexual and reproductive health, for use clinic-wide.Facilitating staff development activities such as clinical practice updates and continuing education for clinicians as well as their teams of RN's and MA's.Training providers in new skills as the need arises (ex. colposcopy, first trimester ultrasound).Reviewing clinical practice by developing and participating in medical record audits, peer review, QI projects, and other practice review activities.Ensuring compliance with agency mission, HRSA reporting requirements, and County Health & Human Services reporting.Providing medical perspective and leadership in critical incident reviews and other medical practice aspects of risk management.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:This position requires: a valid and unrestricted license issued by the Medical Board of California to practice medicine in the specialized disciplines of obstetrics and gynecology.3-5 years experience in obstetrics and gynecology, physicians who have just completed their residency are also encouraged to apply. A current registration issued by the DEA allowing the prescription of drugs.A current BLS certification.The willingness and ability to follow clinic policies, objectives and mission established by regulations, grants, management or the Board of Directors.Must be Board Certified; or willing to become board certified if Boards Eligible.Proficiency in medical Spanish is desired, but not required. Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine.Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and HHS/HRSA regulations.Knowledge of EPIC EHR a plus.Knowledge of the structure and operations of community health centers.Community:Marin County is in Northern California, across the Golden Gate Strait from San Francisco.
