Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), Danville, Pennsylvania is seeking a BC/BE, fellowship-trained Cornea Specialist to fill a rewarding position in the Department of Ophthalmology. This position provides an opportunity to join a well-established practice with multi-specialty Ophthalmologists and Optometrists.
About this position:
• Advanced technologies in diagnostic FA, Fundus Camera, HVF, Goldman Field, IOL Master, Immersion, OCT, Pachymetry, UBM, Idesign, anterior segment OCT and Topography
• Treatment options, including SLT Laser , YAG Laser, Argon Laser, excimer laser
• Two surgical facilities- one is at the outpatient surgery center and the other at GMC main campus nearby
• Support from a PA-C's and CRNP
• Practice location has 50 exam rooms located at the outpatient surgery center
• Shared call (home call)- Call is backing up residents , frequency 1 in 8 weeks.
• A large referral base from our onsite Optometrists, local Ophthalmologists and physicians in our satellite offices
• Opportunity to perform cross linking, LASIK, DSEK, DMEK Opportunities to develop new program, perform research, and teach residents in a large, tertiary referral center.

Position Details
- Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
- Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. An ophthalmologist has the knowledge and professional skills needed to provide comprehensive eye and vision care. Ophthalmologists are medically trained to diagnose, monitor and medically or surgically treat all ocular and visual disorders. This includes problems affecting the eye and its component structures, the eyelids, the orbit and the visual pathways.
