PRIMARY PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY
To perform tasks at a variety of work stations throughout production on a bottle or unit dose packaging line.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform the duties required at the assigned station on the packaging line. Record the performance of the task in the batch production record.
- Perform visual inspection of product during production to ensure absence of cosmetic defects. Inspect for presence of lot number/expiration date, when applicable.
- Ensure all packaging/labeling components are present and properly applied to finished product, when applicable.
- Place finished packaged units inside corrugated shipper cases. Verify case weight meets established acceptable weight range, and print case weights.
- Remove finished cases from packaging line and palletize per approved pallet pattern in batch production record. Prepare pallet for shipment by applying stretch wrap and proper product identification labels.
- Perform periodic verifications of fill weight on representative samples.
- Assist with culling processes, when necessary, to ensure removal of any substandard component/product.
- Perform general housekeeping activities to ensure packaging area, line and equipment are clean.
- Assist with line changeover/set-up between product lots to include removal/addition of materials, cleaning of area and packaging line, and cleaning of hoses and filler/machine parts.
- Measure the volume of product waste generated from the packaging process and record in the batch production record.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Packaging Associate – Level II
Level II Packaging Associates are experienced and qualified to perform all of the duties and responsibilities as the Level I Packaging Associate. Additional responsibilities include the following.
- Manage the timely delivery of materials needed for production to the packaging line.
- Perform more specialized cleaning procedures that are involved in some equipment such as the overhead product transfer lines, and product pumps.
- Perform more specialized line set-up procedures that are involved with the overhead product transfer lines.
- Demonstrate mastery in assigned tasks and ability to train other qualified personnel on procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible for performing tasks as efficiently as possible and per requirements in Standard Operating Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED, and Locating Information Level 4on WorkKeys.(Talk with us about how you can earn this accreditation.)
- Understanding of Standard Operating Procedures as related to work activities.
- Understanding of general Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
- No FDA sanctions.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES
Packaging Line equipment, weight scales, pallet lift equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires lifting up to a maximum of 30 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Some bending, stooping, squatting is required
- Pushing and/or pulling pallet lifts for transport of materials

Production environment.
