Job Details
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, hydraulic, pneumatic and industrial production and processing systems by performing the following duties. The journeyman pipefitter must have all tools necessary for the trade.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures.
- Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and specialties, according to specifications.
- Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and available access to perform the work required by contract documents.
- Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
- Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.
- Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
- Connects pipes, using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or grooved joints.
- Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment such as pumps and cylinders.
- Installs refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
- Tests pipe systems by hydraulic or pneumatic methods.
RequirementsÂ
- 5+ years experince pipefitting within a commercial setting
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must have own tools
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be dependable
