Job Description
The Journey-Level Pipefitter is responsible for providing expert leadership to the team that performs the daily operations of and the preparation, assembling, and repairs of all pipe systems of various shapes, sizes, and pressures.
Responsibilities
- Assembles, inspects, tests, and repairs pipe systems used to control plant operations
- Ensures proper placement and alignment according to blueprints, specifications, diagrams, schematics, or instructions
- Performs inspections of completed pipe system and components to determine structural and operational soundness and to detect abnormal fluctuations
- Performs tests to locate defective components in systems using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals
- Conducts tests on new components, assemblies, and systems based on test criteria as established by the policies and procedures and/or written test plans
- Maintains accurate records of test results and provides reports of results to management
- Uses, maintains, and possesses required hand tools necessary to perform tasks assigned
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Maintains equipment
- Conducts process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s technical degree in field of expertise or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Journeyman license required which has met minimum requirements in the field (usually 8000 hours) and time in approved classroom setting (usually 700 hours)
- Four (4) years of experience in pipe systems, testing processes, and equipment; greater than four (4) years of experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Windows-based software
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
- Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job but with minimal direct supervision
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
