About the Job
The Role:
We are seeking a Pipette Calibration Specialist to join our Pipette Service Calibration team at Quality Control Services Inc, an Aldinger Company.
As our Pipette Calibration Specialist, you will work independently at our in-house lab and offsite at customer locations. You will be responsible for all repairs, scheduled preventive maintenance, and calibrations on a range of pipettes for our customers while ensuring that all pipettes meet industry standards and are performing accurately before it is returned to the customer. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will be crucial in delivering high-quality calibration services to our clients.
The ideal candidate has experience with pipette use and operation experience in a lab or calibration service environment.
Location: This position requires a combination of in-lab work at our Portland, Oregon office, and on-site calibrations at local customer locations in Portland, Oregon and surrounding areas
Also scheduled overnight travel throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and California is also required for this role. About 1-2 weeks at a time per month ~ 50% overnight travel.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Working directly with the client throughout the entire repair, maintenance and calibration process from intake of the equipment / scheduling your onsite visit through completion of the project, including good communication to provide client updates to services needed.
- Prioritizing and handling the daily pipette workload by ensuring that pipettes are thoroughly repaired, PM, calibrated, and shipped back to the customer(s) within the established turn-around-time standards.
- Unboxing, opening, and verifying incoming pipette orders for accuracy and quality, and communicating with customers on any discrepancies.
- Entering and Documenting of all incoming customer pipettes into the appropriate databases.
- Performing As Found gravimetric evaluation of a pipette’s incoming performance on gravimetric balances.
- Providing a thorough inspection, preventive maintenance, part replacement as needed.
- Responsible for verbal and written communication to customers regarding the status of their pipettes, including providing quotations, detailed repair evaluations and estimates.
- Performing As Left gravimetric measurements of a pipette’s outgoing performance on gravimetric balances. Make calibration adjustments as needed.
- Perform a quality check and review of all work performed.
- Print, sign, date, fax, e-mail pipette calibration certificates.
- Maintain repair, maintenance and calibration records and documentation, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
- Package pipettes in well-insulated box(s) for transport back to the customer by UPS, Fed-EX, or preferred courier. - they pick up from our location.
- Perform all duties in accordance with ISO 8655, ISO 17025-2017.
- Ensuring and maintaining an adequate supply of pipette tips, spare parts, lubricants, and lab supplies.
- Actively create, update and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Develop new training materials to knowledge share by staying current with the latest technologies in pipette repair, maintenance and calibration.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience with pipette use and operation experience in a lab or calibration service environment
- Minimum of 1 year of repair and preventive maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of the metric system, especially volume (uL, mL)
- Proven ability to install/remove small parts and components
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Able to climb, kneel, drive and sit for long periods of time
- Able to push and roll up to 150 lbs on a cart/dolly
- Excellent customer service skills including written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and prioritization skills with a keen eye for details
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Nice to have:
- Experience in process improvement, laboratory, and/or analytical instrument service with an understanding of calibration and or repair
- Experience working with Manufacturer’s Quality Systems
- Familiarity and knowledge of ISO 17025, ISO 8655, GMP/GLP practices
- Prior use and operation of analytical balances.
- Experience with Shipping and Receiving of products
- Familiarity with using class 1 weights to perform daily balance checks.
- Experience with IndySoft
