We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plaintiffs-Workers Comp (LHWC) professional to join our fast-paced legal team. This role involves providing high-quality legal services to our clients who have been injured on the job and are seeking workers' compensation benefits, particularly in the longshore and harbor workers' compensation sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to demonstrate their expertise and contribute to our mission of achieving justice for workers.
Responsibilities:
As a Plaintiffs-Workers Comp (LHWC) professional, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Representing clients in workers' compensation cases, with a focus on longshore and harbor workers.
2. Preparing and filing all necessary legal documents such as complaints, appeals, motions, and briefs.
3. Providing legal advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA).
4. Conducting thorough case research and investigation to gather all pertinent information and evidence.
5. Negotiating settlements with opposing counsel and insurance companies on behalf of clients.
6. Representing clients in court proceedings, hearings, and mediation sessions.
7. Staying updated on all changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations, particularly those related to longshore and harbor workers.
8. Collaborating with team members to develop effective case strategies and ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
2. Active member of the bar in good standing.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in workers' compensation law, with a specific focus on representing plaintiffs in longshore and harbor workers' compensation cases.
4. Exceptional knowledge of the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) and other relevant laws and regulations.
5. Proven track record of successfully representing clients in workers' compensation cases.
6. Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to secure favorable settlements for clients.
7. Strong research and investigative skills to gather all necessary information and evidence for cases.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to clients.
9. High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
10. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions.
12. Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
