The Planner / Master Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling of materials through production operations with routine subcontract purchasing assignments. Plans, organizes, and controls the building schedule of products from receipt of a sales order to shipment of the order.
Requirements
- Review, create and distribute production work orders and supporting documents.
- Analyze and review materials demand, rationalize inventory levels and purchase order due dates to determine and communicate constraints and develop and publish production schedules by work cell.
- Confer with production and warehouse personnel to determine work progress, completion dates, and proactively communicate delays to management and Sales.
- Analyze materials usage to develop stocking plans and kanban levels.
- Process quotes with special requirements and lead-time expectations.
- Establish and maintain material requirements on assigned jobs and obtains quotations and examines bids.
- Assist with inventory levels to ensure 100% customer service levels while minimizing financial exposure (E&O).
- Minimize premium freight costs by managing stock out situations.
- Work with engineering to create special BOMs in accordance with sales order requirements and interpret engineering drawings to determine required additions to BOMs.
- Enter and revise master data in ERP system for new and existing part numbers.
- Track status and expedite materials on assigned production jobs.
- Review and maintain the component material issue status of all completed assembly production orders.
- Recommend changes to production and purchasing plans to fulfill customer delivery commitments.
- Streamline shop floor scheduling system to fit lean manufacturing environment.
- Assist with material productivity (lean) projects related to purchasing, subcontracting, and scheduling.
- Identify and drive opportunities for improvement in cost, quality, productivity and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S. Business Administration, B.S. Industrial Distribution or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years planning/scheduling/buying experience in industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in Lean manufacturing environments a plus.
TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC
- Computer proficient
- High proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, & MRP systems.
- Technical knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly.
- Math and calculation.

- Use of logic and technical reasoning to identify and resolve problems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and negotiating capabilities.
