Duties, Responsibilities & Other:The Nashville office of KCI Technologies, Inc. is looking for a highly talented, creative, and motivated community and transportation planner to join our transportation planning group in our expanding office in Nashville. We work on a wide variety of exciting, high profile projects and are looking for talented staff to help the firm continue our leadership role in community, metropolitan, and statewide transportation planning. In this role, the Planner will work with a team of planners, engineers, and managers on various types of short- and long-range transportation plans, including MPO and statewide plans, multi-modal studies including bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight plans, subarea studies, land use/transportation plans, performance metrics, conduct research in specific or general project areas, participate in public involvement meetings, and prepare graphics and maps to present information.
Experience
KCI is seeking a highly talented, creative, and motivated person with 2 to 4 years of experience to join our transportation planning group in Nashville. The position requires familiarity with the MPO and statewide transportation planning process, the rules and regulations pertaining to the process, and experience in local, regional, or statewide multi-modal transportation planning.
Skills
Strong knowledge of ArcGIS and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access), excellent technical writing skills with the ability to prepare technical documents and generate report graphics, ability to take initiative, and be a team player that works independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in community planning, transportation planning, public administration, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or other related bachelor's degree required.
Must be a highly self-motivated dynamic individual. Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment. EOE/M/F/Veteran/Disabled.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience.
- Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment and random drug test for contracts as required.
Performance Expectations:
- Complete Annual Individual Training Program
- Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
- Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
- Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
- Complete other duties as required/assigned
- Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(85% typical)
- Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
- Attend meetings with clients and county officials, public hearings, county meetings and seminars as required
- Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
- Consult and coordinate with other practices as required
- Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
- Compare field data to base plan
- Conduct project site research and analysis to determine potential project density and intensity, and identify development constraints
- Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
- Draft schematic land use, landscape/wetland mitigation, forest stand delineation, and water quality planning plans
- Obtain research material from Federal, state and/or local agencies as required
- Plot location of project site and utilities, including property deeds from descriptions
- Prepare and present all zoning/rezoning applications and appeals as required
- Prepare and review research summaries
- Prepare preliminary site plans, including bay sheets as required, and submit for approval
- Prepare secondary impact analyses as required
- Prepare timely comprehensive plan updates
- Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
