The anticipated wage for this position is $25 to 27.5 hourly. Hourly wage may depend upon experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Research Assistant to work with wheat in a controlled environment (Growth Chamber/Greenhouse). The ideal candidate will be responsible for the routine growth and maintenance of plants in these controlled settings, assisting in the design, and independently or collaboratively executing research experiments. This role requires a highly motivated and results-oriented team player with excellent communication skills and a strong scientific background.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily care and maintenance of plants in growth chambers and greenhouses.
Assist in the planning, execution, and troubleshooting of research experiments.
Record, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
Maintain detailed and organized records of plant progress and experimental outcomes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, or related fields with experience in plant care.
Hands-on experience with greenhouse and growth chamber plant care.
Familiarity with plant physiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, and genomics.
Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and data analysis tools.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience in wheat research is a plus.
Strong experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Additional Information:
This role involves significant manual labor, including watering plants, maintaining growth chambers, administering treatments (physical or chemical), preparing fertilizers, managing pollination, and documenting plant progress.

Full-time position, 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend or holiday work as needed.
Must-Haves: Strong attention to detail, organizational and planning skills, biology background, hand dexterity, and a positive attitude.

Potential for contract extension based on performance and business needs.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour
