Description of Position
The Plant Controller position will be responsible for financial reporting and decision making. The position will oversee financial accounting, cost accounting, management accounting, and internal audit practices within the company. The Plant Controller position will be responsible for the following areas of the business:
Financial Accounting
- Oversight of the entire accounting function of the plant: including cash management, AR/AP, payroll, inventory, capital assets, tooling, intercompany transactions, etc.
- Lead month end and year end process and ensure all filing and reporting.
- Develop and execute tax strategies to minimize liabilities and increase the bottom line.
- Manage tax preparation and collaborate with external CPA firm
- Approve all standard and nonstandard journal entries; ensure adequate back up
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with local GAAP/IFRS
Cost Accounting
- Ensure accuracy of costs and inventory transactions
- Perform yearly BOM (bill of material) review in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing staff and update standard cost according to the budget for overhead, direct labor, material etc.
Management Accounting
- Prepare monthly forecasts and perform local financial analysis for plant management.
- Complete financial package and bridge analysis for monthly corporate management reviews.
- Lead the annual budgeting process involving various departmental managers in the development of manpower and controllable spend budgets to encourage accountability and ownership.
Internal Controls and Audit
- Coordinate & support internal and external auditors for annual and quarterly audits. Address any findings promptly and put corrective actions in place
- Identify deficiencies in controls and assist with strengthening existing controls
- Ensure compliance with all corporate financial policies
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with 3rd party providers to prepare the annual benefits options for health insurance, Dental, and vision insurance.
- Assist as needed with NIST 800:171 compliance and audit for CMMC
- Lead small accounting staff and encourage and assist in their professional development.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Must be US Citizen
- University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5 years financial management in manufacturing
- 5 years controller experience and cost accounting
- Honest, candid, and adheres to the highest moral and ethical standards
- Proven leadership skills
- Solutions-oriented, take charge approach
- Effective English communications skills with all levels of employees
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Proficiency with ERP system and Financial Software
Preferred
- Controller: 5 years
- Controller in manufacturing: 5 years
- Cost accounting: 5 years
- GAAP Experience: 5 years
- Licensing/Certification: CPA/CMA/CGA designation
