Plant Controller – Holton, KS
Position Overview:
This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join us as Plant Controller at our Holton production facility. This position will play a key role within the Holton leadership team, which is committed to member development, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement. A successful candidate will be poised to act as the copilot to the Plant Director, leveraging their financial and analytical expertise and leadership skills in setting strategic direction, identifying financial opportunities, and leading key improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide thought leadership and insight on achievement of plant key performance metrics with a strong focus on cost reduction and improved operating efficiencies
- Build Relationships at all levels of the plant including Core Team, Team Leaders, & Floor Members; Earn a seat at the table for both formal and informal meetings
- Take a hands-on approach to the business of making sausage, understanding all aspects of plant operations and drivers of our success
- Turn data into insight, leveraging our data-rich environment to shine a light on areas of opportunity. Turn insight into action, leveraging relationships and influence with operational partners to create positive change
- Bring numbers to life using clear & concise dashboards, translating operational metrics and financial numbers to a message, relating the message to themes people relate to and understand easily
- Lead the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and annual operating plan process for the Holton facility, linking operational metrics to financial outcomes. Coordinate efforts with those of the central cost accounting team
- Deliver for Results; take a leadership role in ensuring that the facility cost per unit meets expectations for the current and future years, course correcting where needed
- Guide the Commercial teams in developing meaningful and reliable product cost estimates for new products by leveraging operational expertise from project team members
- Critically evaluate new business opportunities; Participate and provide insight for proposed capital (IRR, cost savings, post-mortems) & cost reduction initiatives
- Drive the development of procedures and controls that ensure meaningful and reliable product costs and accurate inventories
- Coach and develop direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- CMA, CPA, and / or MBA preferred
- Six or more (6+) years of accounting and finance experience required, including management experience
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing operations and product costing
- Proactive self-starter with excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
- Extensive practical systems knowledge (SAP preferred)
- Demonstrated Project and Change Management abilities
- Demonstrated track record of strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced business
- Natural curiosity and ability to understand manufacturing process flow and the financial implications of operational performance and process changes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships, influence and instill confidence and trust
- Understanding of internal controls and ability to implement proper controls within the plant environment to protect assets and the integrity of data
Location: Holton, KS
Member Status: Full Time, Salaried
Travel: Not a ton, less than 10% of your time
