We are doing some exciting things with an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Westfield, IN who has asked us to help find a Plant Production Manager.The company manufactures unmanned aerial systems for the military.As thehands-on plant production manager,you will be responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring that all products meet the required quality standards. You will be expected to manage a team of production workers as a player-coach and work closely with other departments to ensure that production targets are met.
This is a direct hire opportunity paying $100K+ with good benefits and a great, innovative culture where you are empowered to do whatever is needed to support our military fighters.
Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a Plant Production Manager role. Experience working in a low-volume, high-quality production environment and electromechanical assembly will be given top consideration.
You should have a strong understanding of production processes and be able to identify areas for improvement. You should also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team to achieve their goals.
You must be able to obtain DOD Security Clearance and meet ITAR compliance standards.
You will learn to produce the unmanned aerial systems and supporting materials yourself and then work with the management team to refine manufacturing processes and SOP’s before you hire manufacturing production workers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Your top priority will be refining the manufacturing department framework including documentation, SOPs, process flow, and quality standards.
- Overseeing the production process from start to finish
- Ensuring that all products meet the required quality standards; scrap is extremely expensive, so the company mantra is measure 3 times and cut once
- Identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to increase efficiency
- Working closely with other departments to ensure that production targets are met
- Managing a team of production workers
