Aircraft Technology, Inc., (ATI), a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, is an FAA/EASA Part 145 Repair Station. ATI supports a wide range of rotary and fixed wing components found on both commercial and military platforms around the world.
The Plasma Technician performs the full range of thermal spray operations while ensuring quality of work meets customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Receive work instructions for the job and ensure the parts have been properly masked. In some cases, masking, blasting, or blending may be required.
* Pull tooling and materials needed for thermal spray application.
* Perform the setup of equipment, tooling, and materials for each project with minimal supervision.
* Set the parameters and pressures to operate the thermal spray equipment. Enter basic instructions to the robotic equipment and perform limited applications.
* Apply thermal spray coating to the full range of jobs and aircraft parts.
* Apply HVOF spray coating to the full range of jobs and aircraft parts.
* Assist with other duties as directed by the department supervisor.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the department and work facility.
* Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and materials.
* Actively promote safety processes and report any safety issues to proper channels for action.
* Ensure the proper removal of contaminants, oxides, or previous coatings.
* Perform in-process inspections of the coated parts using tools such as calipers, and micrometers.
* Conduct post-coating inspections, including adhesion testing and metallographic examination.
* Maintain accurate records of the coating process, including parameters and inspection results.
* Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and quality of the thermal spray process.
* Suggest improvements to processes, materials, or equipment.
* Train and mentor junior operators or other staff on proper HVOF techniques and equipment use.
* Perform routine maintenance on thermal spray equipment (HVOF guns, compressors, etc.).
* Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and adjust parameters to resolve issues.
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum of three years of experience in thermal spray techniques, preferably in Aerospace
* Experience with ABB robotics programming preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES:
Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, reports and correspondence. Excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Computer Skills: Proficient working knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook PowerPoint
Mathematical Skills: Ability to use basic shop mathematics.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction; self-motivated.
Multitasking Skills: Ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Interpersonal Skills: Must work well and communicate with others. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks
Technical Skills: Ability to use micrometers and calipers and any other measuring devices.
