Summary:
The Plastics Engineering Internship will provide an individual with exposure to 24-7 operations of 31 large and small tonnage injection molding machines. The internship period will concentrate on processing, machine capability, documentation, quality, and sustainability. In addition, the individual may have the opportunity to crossover into active new product development and extrusion projects.
In This Role, You’ll Have the Opportunity To:
- Gain hands-on experience of Scientific Molding process development and documentation.
- Learn how to identify inefficiencies through data acquisition and analysis of machine capability studies.
- Assist with development of Operational Excellence best practices and technical writing skills.
- Grow understanding of Sustainability initiatives in the Plastics Industry including: recycled resins, Zero Waste, and GHG reductions.
- Gain familiarity of new vendor qualification processes of color and additives.
- Increase AutoCAD and Solidworks proficiency through plant layout updates and new product development projects.
- Lay a foundation of root cause problem solving skills.
- Acquire knowledge of ASTM material and furniture testing procedures.
- Obtain insight of various grades of Polypropylene, Silicone, Nylon and various additives.
Requirements:
What You Need to Succeed:
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Working knowledge of plastic injection molding
- Basic experience of AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
Required Education and Experience:
- Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
