We are seeking a Play Communications and Marketing Manager to show and tell the multiverse about all the outstanding things Magic: The Gathering’s play programs ecosystem has to offer. The Play Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for managing our play-focused messaging, marketing and communications calendars and planning, as well as guiding players through meaningful moments as they relate to Magic play programs. You’ll be a key member of the play team, an advisor to other teams, and a font of knowledge about all the ways our fans play Magic.
The Magic Play Team is responsible for all of our play programs, in store and out of store, from Commander Parties and Standard Showdown to our Competitive Play System. This role is an integral part of the team and reports to the Director of Play Programs.
What You'll Do:

Develop and maintain a robust knowledge of our Play Programs and the various ways that our fans play Magic.
- Craft compelling and informative player-facing communications for play-related announcements and updates.
- Craft comprehensive marketing strategies for our play programs, including positioning statements, marketing beats, and campaign briefs
- Identify and mitigate communications concerns as they emerge.
- Monitor and address player sentiment to help foster safe, vibrant, and welcoming play spaces.
- Lead tactical execution of play program marketing and communications campaigns, inspiring teams to develop creative centers, marketing assets, and channel approaches.
- Evaluate and communicate critical metrics across campaigns, maintaining up-to-date reports of key success metrics.
- Work with Consumer Insights and Business Intelligence teams to analyze campaign results as well as identify trends, opportunities, and points of innovation.
What You'll Brin

3-5 years of communications and marketing experience.
- A consistent track record of leading, delivering, and analyzing marketing campaigns.
- Strong writing and editing ability.
- Creativity, passion, and enthusiasm for communications and marketing.
- Experience in working with large, cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of empowerment where teams achieve together by bringing their best and authentic selves to work
- Understanding of voice, tone, and other buzzwords for how we speak to our fans—from the most serious topics to the lighthearted and fun!
- Knowledge of and curiosity about the gaming and entertainment industry, culture trends, marketing innovations, and enthusiasm for research and continued learning
Compensation Range, Currency USD:
- Starting Pay Range: $85,780
- Pay Range End: $149,000
