Job Description
The plumber Journeyman is repsopnsible for handling all plumbing related instances within the hotel to include public areas, guest rooms and meeting and event spaces in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
- Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
- Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
- Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Cuts and threads pipe.
- Bends pipe to required angle by use pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, lead and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay and plastic.
- Joins pipes by use of screws bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent and caulks joints.
- Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
- Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers and water softeners.
- Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washes in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes and opening clogged drains.
- Welds holding fixtures to steel structural members.
- Effective and conscientious use of hotel materials.

Qualifications
- Journeyman Plumber license required
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in related field
- Must be able to lift over 40 pounds overhead, floor to waist, horizontal, grasping/holding, pushing/pulling, and carrying.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, overhead reach, have arm/hand movement, and hand/eye coordination for majority of shift.
- Starting rate per hour $36.72 / $76.377 annually. Rate moves to $44.07 / hour or $91,665 annulally after 6 months of service.
