Job Summary and Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs
- Installs, tests, repairs and replaces plumbing to include pipes, fittings, fixtures - sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems of the facility
- Maintains and repairs mechanical and laundry equipment
- Performs all welding functions throughout the facility as needed Assists in the design and layout of new plumbing systems
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical manuals and schematics and maintains proper manufacturers' specifications; ensures compliance with national/state/local codes
- Repairs and makes alterations to existing plumbing systems
- Monitor and maintain faucets, pipes, bowls, sinks, valves, traps, water and drain systems
- Performs preventive maintenance work on a regular schedule; opens and cleans clogged fixtures and drain lines
- Work closely with agents from regulatory agencies and contractors to ensure compliance with codes and standards
- Maintains corrective and preventive records and documentations
- Inspect and repair back flow preventers to prevent contamination of the city water system
- Requisitions parts and materials for repairs and restocks the items when needed
- Properly handling and processing hazardous chemicals and waste as needed
- Performs regular inspection of the work areas and cleanup as needed
- Meets the requirements of the on -call rotation schedule for building and ground coverage during after hours, holidays and weekends
- Performs all other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification: Valid State of Kansas Driver’s License with no stipulations and be insurable to operate the company vehicle
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification: Backflow preventer testing and repairing license, have or been enrolled within 6 months of hire City plumbing license
Required Education or Experience: Vocational school graduate
Preferred Education or Experience: Completion of vocational coursework in welding, previous experience reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings and 3 to 5 year apprenticeship or equivalent on -the-job training
