Summary You will serve as a Lead Police Officer at the GG-09 grade level responsible for performing and leading a full range of police operation duties to protect facilities, perimeters, materials, equipment, personnel and information. This position is located in Suitland, MD. Responsibilities You will use and maintain law enforcement weapons, vehicles, and other security/safety equipment. You will conduct criminal and security incident investigations to include incident reporting, safeguarding evidence, and testifying in court. You will enforce Federal and State laws and applicable regulations (e.g. issuing citations, detaining or arresting suspects). You will perform access control duties (e.g. monitors and inspects badges, screens and processes employees and visitors, inspect incoming vehicles for prohibited items, escorts visitors). You maintain law enforcement and safety certification standards. You will participate on emergency response teams to mitigate incidents that threaten highly sensitive National Security interests. You will provide assistance to the shift supervisor in the planning and direction of assigned uniformed police officers engaged in day-to-day operations at agency facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Monitoring and patrolling perimeters (e.g., on foot or motor vehicle) to prevent unauthorized access. Identifying traffic or personnel by performing access control duties (e.g. inspect identification cards, badges, and vehicle decals). Apprehending or detaining suspects violating laws and regulations. Conducting criminal and security investigations in accordance with Federal and State laws and applicable regulations. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Education Additional Information Federal Law Enforcement Training Program: Must be a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program or upon appointment to the position within the time period established by the agency, successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program. You will be required to sign a Continuing Service Agreement (CSA) prior to completion of the required Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntarily complete the length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training. PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST (PAT): Qualified applicants must pass a pre-hire physical agility test (PAT) and are required to pass the physical agility test (PAT) annually. This test will be used to screen qualified applicants for entry-level Police Officer positions. All Police Officers will be required to meet the following minimum physical agility test standards pre-hire and annually: Run 1.5 miles in 17:30 minutes Execute 19 push-ups in two minutes Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires at command discretion. All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
