JOB SUMMARY
The Sergeant is a sworn officer who utilizes organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with citizens and direct-line level Police and Security Officers while ensuring that public safety and law enforcement standards are met. Monitors and maintains positive relations within Patrol Personnel and with other divisions. Displays flexibility in providing support to administration and performing Officer duties as demand dictates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
+ Schedules, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines Police and Security Officers assigned to set shifts at a single campus.
+ Works with Campus Department Heads to ensure Line Personnel are providing the desired level of public safety and law enforcement services.
+ Provides personnel and asset-need input to the Regional Lieutenant/Manager for administrative judgment support.
+ Monitors and maintains positive morale among Line Personnel.
+ Conducts uniform and equipment inspections and report need for repair or replacement.
+ Performs Police Officer duties as necessary.
+ Resolves problems arising between Patrol Personnel and other Divisions.
+ Handles sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.
+ Fulfills and provides proof of continuing education, licensure, and/or certifications required to remain qualified for this role.

+ Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
+ Ability to make tactical judgments around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and/or procedures.
+ Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
+ Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
+ General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, and email.

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire.
