The National Security Institute (NSI) at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School aims to strengthen American national security and U.S. global leadership by educating future leaders and advancing actionable solutions based on practical experience. NSI is a platform for research, teaching, and policy development that incorporates a realistic assessment of the threats facing the United States and its allies as well as an appreciation of the legal and practical challenges facing U.S. intelligence, defense, law enforcement, homeland security, and cybersecurity communities. NSI's faculty members and experts bring decades of combined experience tackling national security challenges in all three branches of the U.S. government to their work at NSI.
About the Position:
The Policy Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning and coordination of NSI policy initiatives, events, publications, and other efforts. Policy Program Coordinator has the opportunity to work alongside NSI's group of national security, foreign policy, and cyber and tech experts, as well as support the organization in Congressional and Executive branch engagement, and collaborate with leading private sector, nonprofit, and industry organizations and leaders.

About the Position:
The Policy Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning and coordination of NSI policy initiatives, events, publications, and other efforts. Policy Program Coordinator has the opportunity to work alongside NSI's group of national security, foreign policy, and cyber and tech experts, as well as support the organization in Congressional and Executive branch engagement, and collaborate with leading private sector, nonprofit, and industry organizations and leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Managing administrative activities related to policymaking, including fiscal and records management, and other administrative and support services;
- Developing and coordinating NSI policy efforts, including identifying policy priorities and engagement strategy, and planning events and other programmatic activities;
- Planning and coordinating NSI events and other programmatic activities, including managing on-site event logistics;
- Interacting with NSI leadership and staff, as well as media, general public, and government officials to plan and coordinate activities;
- Assisting with research, writing, and publication of NSI research and advocacy papers and other written materials;
- Supporting activities related to NSl's website, communications, and social media strategies;
- Managing event registration and preparation of event materials; supporting communications and press strategies, and on-site event management;
- Supporting NSI's other programs;
- Supporting NSI team in all aspects of NSl's work;
- Engaging with Congressional and Executive branch officials in support of NSI's policy mission; and
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Professional experience in the policymaking and / or national security and foreign policy space;
- Excellent organizational skills, with the proven ability to independently juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively;
- Self-starter, highly motivated and detail-oriented;
- Ability to interact with persons at all levels, including high-level legal officials and academics, in a professional manner and in different settings is critical;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Superior skills with Microsoft Office suite as well as strong database experience are necessary.
- Master's degree in related field; and
- Public policy experience is desirable.
