Polymer Synthesis Lab Technician
Dayton, OH
12-month contract with possible extension.
Flexible to work 1st (8:00am-4:30pm) and 2nd (4:30pm-12:30am) shift when needed.
We are looking for a contract Polymer Synthesis Lab Technician. The technician will be responsible for polymer production and support of quality improvement/investigation as well as general lab maintenance and housekeeping. Our pilot plant runs 50L to 100L glass reactors for production of high purity polymers used in semiconductor manufacturing applications. This technician position reports to lab supervisor and collaborate closely with other technicians, chemists, and quality control team.

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Perform polymer synthesis in 50L to 100L glass jacketed reactors.
- Supports quality investigations and other R&D/Production activities as assigned.
- Maintaining labs, including cleaning of glassware, waste management, transfer of solvents from the plant to the labs, keeping track of raw material consumptions, and general housekeeping.
- Documentation of experiments, production, and scale-up work
ROLE (JOB) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- High school education with lab experience, associate or bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or related technical or scientific field
- Experience in chemical synthesis in lab or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Able to perform physical work (e.g., lifting to 20kg.). and use drum carts to move upto180kg consistent with corporate ergonomic guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
- Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment including respirator, safety shoes, goggles, and gloves.
- Flexible to work 1st (8:00am-4:30pm) and 2nd (4:30pm-12:30am) shift when needed.
The following skill and experiences are preferred by the site:
- Experience working in chemical manufacturing or chemical process operation environment is a plus.
- Experience in lab chemical synthesis and polymer chemistry.
- Experience working with glass reactors and setting up glassware for polymer and organic synthesis.
- Strong personal commitment to safety, lab housekeeping, and ethical behavior.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Motivated initiative-taker, adaptive, analytical, and strong collaborator.
- Proven record of meeting deadlines and ability to multi-task.
