About the Job
Cleans and services building area, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around the building, and performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the 92nd Street Y in an orderly and sanitary condition.
Job Responsibilities Include:- Perform heavy-duty cleaning, washing, scrubbing, mopping and sanitizing of toilets, showers, fixtures and surfaces of bathrooms, kitchens, stairwells and laundry rooms.
- Clean and wax floors, shovel snow, high dust/low dust, mop and buff areas.
- Collect and properly dispose of trash, sanitize and clean trash receptacles, and replace consumable container, as necessary. Operate, empty and clear garbage compactor.
- Move large pieces of equipment and furniture throughout the premises, including annexed properties.
- Perform periodic/seasonal duties, such as cleaning windows.
- Work in conjunction with housekeepers to ensure special needs are accommodated.
- Responsible for setups and breakdowns, as required.
- Load and unload delivered goods at receiving.
- Operate various machinery, buffing machines, vacuums, compactor etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in building service/maintenance preferred.
Work Environment & Requirements:
40 hours per week.
Shifts may vary dependent on institutional needs.
Supervisors will directly assign shift changes to Rotating Porters with two weeks’ notice being given for such a change.

Compensation
$45,000
The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
