About the Job
We are seeking a Portfolio Manager for the San Antonio Auto Lending Department.
This role is accountable for directing the Auto Lending office in originating, distributing, and managing a portfolio of loans that will perform commensurate with loan pricing, department structure, and Credit Human auto lending business model. The scope of this role is to manage a loan portfolio that consists of collateral in comparable markets across a few states with standardized valuation methods which include loan products derived from purchase money transactions.
The position is accountable to: develop, implementing, and fine-tuning cross-functional processes that direct loan origination, collections, remarketing, and charge-off recovery efforts. This requires the incumbent to analyze and anticipate loan performance and use that data to develop sound credit policy to minimize risk while meeting company objectives of sustainable profitability and market share.

Highlights:
- Coach, develop, and mentor subordinates by setting objectives and providing context in creating, implementing, and sustaining the effective process of originating loans, collecting payments, and remarketing collateral
- Establish customer service quality standards and ensure the auto lending team meets or exceeds our service expectations
- Continuously develop and refine processes for loan origination, account management, and asset and disposal remarketing to deliver work with increasing quality and pace while reducing waste, redundancy, and variance
- Accountable for the development of self and those staff members within the area of responsibility to enable the sustainable growth of talent within the organization
- Prepare reports to communicate risk exposure to the Auto Lending General Manager regularly
Experience:
Required
- 5 years of underwriting collateralized consumer loans
- 2 years of experience collecting collateralized consumer loans
- 3 years of managerial experience
Preferred
- Underwriting consumer collateralized loans
- Auto industry experience
- Direct Member Operations and Lending
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or related experience
Licenses & Certifications:
Required
- Possess a valid driver’s license (in the state of position) and a good driving record
Skills & Knowledge:
Required
- In-depth understanding of theoretical credit scoring models and their application to create desired loan performance
- Detailed knowledge of and experience in all functions required to lead a compliant and effective consumer lending operation
- Understanding of laws and regulations pertaining to lending and collections of loans
- Ability to organize company resources
- Basic understanding of the concept of productive capacity and its utilizing
- Basic knowledge, content, and purpose of a P&L income statement
- Proven understanding of market theory and ability to utilize that comprehension to create alternative ways of allocating resources that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations
- Proven ability to recognize and creatively solve problems
- Ability to manage, supervise, and lead others to achieve desired goals and objectives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and human relations skills
- Must be highly professional with the ability to represent the Auto Lending division at various public functions in the automobile industry, consumer finance, credit union, and business community
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with producers and peers
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work with all departments in a strongly cooperative and team-building relationship
- Understanding of the Auto Lending departments, their primary responsibilities
