About the Job
Development of genome editing approaches for neurological disorders.
The Wolfe laboratory will be filling a postdoctoral position to develop improved genome editing reagents and approaches for Rett Syndrome and other neurological disorders with the goal of translating these reagents to clinical trials. This project will focus on:
1) The development of prime editing reagents with high activity and specificity for correction of common mutations in MECP2 associated with Rett Syndrome.
2) The utilization of unbiased genome-wide techniques for assessing off-target events and other genomic alterations potentially associated with genome editing.
3) The translation of the developed genome editing reagents to clinical application through in vivo safety and efficacy studies in relevant mouse models.
Responsibilities:These studies will expose the successful candidate to cutting-edge prime editor engineering approaches and the delivery of these reagents in vivo via lipid nanoparticles. The successful candidate will also learn cutting edge deep-sequencing approaches to evaluate off-target editing within the genome. They will have the opportunity to participate in meetings/conferences associated with genome editing and gene therapy, which will broaden their exposure to cutting edge research within the field.
Qualifications:Candidates should have a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related biomedical science. In addition, the potential candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and be eager to present research results at national meetings. Prior experience with genome editing systems, cell culture, and deep-sequencing technologies is advantageous, but not required.
Applicants should send a letter (via email) describing their current research activities and their interest in this position, a CV (including publications) and contact information for three references, including your Ph.D. advisor.
