What You Will Do
The Energy and Natural Resources Security Group (EES-16) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a motivated individual to join our Radionuclide Geochemistry Team as a Post Doctoral Researcher. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of geochemistry especially as it is related to water conservation during groundwater restoration following in situ recovery (ISR) mining activities and diffusion of gaseous and aqueous radionuclides through various barrier systems. We are especially seeking individuals with experience working with radionuclides, although this is not a requirement if you are excited to learn about working with radioactive materials.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
• A PhD in Geochemistry or a closely related field.
• Experience working safely laboratories with chemicals and analytical instrumentation.
• Proven expertise in various geochemical techniques, such as mass spectrometry, chromatography, and/or spectroscopy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and data management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by a record of scientific publications.
Education/Experience: A PhD in Geochemistry or a closely related field.
Desired Qualifications:
• Familiarity with modeling software and/or programming languages relevant to geochemistry (i.e. PHREEQC, Geochemist Workbench, MINTEQ, Python)
• Knowledge of geochemical principles and laboratory techniques
• Experience in handling and preparing geochemical samples for analysis.
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Salary: Competitive salaries are based on the date the PhD degree requirements were completed or the degree was awarded. Starting salary for a new graduate is currently $94,500.
