Job Description: | The Tang Research Group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville, FL, is seeking applicants for two Postdoctoral Associate positions in chemistry or biology. Additionally, multiple PhD student positions are available. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Feng Tang (https://www.chem.ufl.edu/about-all/directory/name/feng-tang/), focusing on leveraging Sequencing and Proteomics techniques to study how DNA damage induced by environmental exposure and endogenous metabolism contribute to cancer and aging related diseases. This one-year appointment is renewable based on performance. Successful candidates shall have strong skillsets in the following areas: molecular biology, (chemo)proteomics, sequencing, bioinformatics, synthetic chemistry, etc. The Post Doctoral Associates will be responsible for conducting the research, generating publications, contributing to grants and progress reports, and mentorship of junior lab personnel. Prof. Feng Tang is a recipient of the K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, and the research group is well-funded. Tang lab is committed to fostering an environment of mutual respect and open communication and will actively support the career development of PhD students and postdocs who join the group. Postdocs and students will have the opportunity to receive interdisciplinary training in proteomics, chemical biology, synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. UF is the state’s oldest, largest, and most comprehensive land grant university with an enrollment of over 50,000 students and was ranked 6th in the country among public universities (US News and World Report 2023 rankings), and 1st among public institutions in the Wall Street Journal 2023 survey. UF is located in Gainesville, a city of approximately 150,000 residents in North-Central Florida, 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, and within a 2-hour drive to large metropolitan areas (Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville).
