Postdoctoral Fellow - Translational Molecular Pathology (Chen Lab) - MD Anderson
Houston, TX
About the Job
The current program aims to recruit and train a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Yang Chen at the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology, MD Anderson Cancer Center. This program focuses on investigating the tumor microenvironment of pancreatic cancer by integrating computational biology (utilizing single-cell genomics) and experimental biology (using novel transgenic mouse models). The recruited postdoctoral fellow of this program will learn the techniques of both computational biology (utilizing single-cell genomics) and experimental biology (using novel transgenic mouse models) under the supervision of Dr. Yang Chen. The recruited postdoctoral fellow will also learn other common techniques of cell biology, molecular biology, pathology, and immunology, to complete a variety of research projects and publications.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By combining both functional and computational studies, this program aims to train the recruited postdoctoral fellow to systemically conduct multiple research projects, which may identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets at the interface of single-cell genomics, tumor microenvironment, and tumor immunology to translate our discoveries into early diagnosis and therapeutic options for pancreatic cancer patients. The goal of this training and learning program is to establish the experimental skills and other research related skills of the trainee. After the learning and training program, the trainee is expected to be ready for conducting independent research projects.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
An individual holding a recent Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.
