The Biology Department at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
About the Opportunity
The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research as part of a NSF-funded project centered around increasing the efficacy and equity of forest-based carbon offset projects in Appalachia. The postdoc will contribute to this effort by collecting data on carbon storage across a network of forests that differ in management history, conducting outreach efforts to family forest landowners, and potentially using modeling and/or remote sensing tools to quantify how forest management impacts carbon cycling and climate resiliency.

What You'll Do
- 20% - Conduct field and/or lab work.
- 45% - Analyze data.
- 30% - Write manuscripts.
- 5% - Presenting research at conferences/workshops and participating in outreach activities.
Qualifications
- A PhD in environmental sciences, ecology, forestry, or a similar field is required for qualify for this position.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Skills in large dataset analysis
- Experience working with tree-ring data and/or ecosystem modeling
- Demonstrated training and/or publication in the fields of eco-physiology, forestry, and/or ecosystem ecology.
