About the Position:
The George Mason University, Center for Spatial Information Science and Systems (CSISS) invites applications for two (2) full-time Post-doctoral Research Fellow positions.
These positions are an NSF-funded research project. The primary purpose of the position is to build a digital twin for national-scale field-level crop monitoring, modeling, prediction, and decision support and automation.
Responsibilities:
The two (2) Postdoctoral Research Fellows will focus on building a digital twin for national-scale field-level crop monitoring, modeling, prediction, and decision support and automation.

Responsibilities:
The two (2) Postdoctoral Research Fellows will focus on building a digital twin for national-scale field-level crop monitoring, modeling, prediction, and decision support and automation.
Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- Developing and refining algorithms and workflows for crop monitoring, modeling, prediction, and decision support and automation;
- Developing agriculture digital twin theory, methods, and systems for smart cropping decisions;
- Publishing and disseminating research at top-tier journals and conferences; and
- Supervising graduate research assistants and student interns.
- Terminal degree in a related field;
- Knowledge of and experience in geospatial information systems, crop modeling, or digital twin; and
- Relevant programming skills.
- Experience with full-stack development for decision support systems in the Web environment;
- Experience in software development with Open Source Geospatial software and libraries, e.g. GDAL or other open source geospatial packages under OSGeo;
- Experience in programming with multiple languages (e.g. Java, C/C++, Python) for geospatial information systems, agro-informatic applications, crop modeling, or digital twin;
- Experience in data management and databases;
- A track record that demonstrates the ability to work well with interdisciplinary research teams; and
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
