Power Engineer [ Electrical Engineer ]
Salary : $ 90,000.- $ 110,000.00 + Bonus
Large Metal Manufacturer has an opening for a Power Engineer[ Electrical Engineer] at its Pittsburgh , PA location. The Power Engineer is responsible for the reliability and sustainability of new and existing equipment. Lead process and product improvement efforts as a technical resource to the operations team. Support manufacturing and maintenance through MDI process & continuous improvement initiatives. Troubleshoot technical problems. Project manager for expense and CAPX projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.
Responsibilities:
• Include but are not limited to the following: analyzing equipment failure data to identify patterns and trends applying engineering principles to develop and implement countermeasures to prevent re-occurrence including develop/revise PM’s with proper granularity and cadence.
• Devise PM strategies and spare parts lists.
• Conducting root cause analysis to determine the underlying cause of problems on equipment in effort to maximize equipment uptime and throughput.
• Developing and implementing new maintenance procedures and standard work for repair.
• Designing and implementing new procedures for monitoring and testing equipment.
• Finding new technologies and processes that can improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure that reliability is integrated into all aspects of the organization.
• Manage a variety of capital and non-capital projects as the Project Manager or Project Lead. Utilizing fundamentals of project management, i.e. scope, specification, design review, budget and WBS/Schedule governed by change management. Knowledge of FEL process a plus.
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a clear and timely manner; delegate as needed.
• Schedule contractors and manage day-to-day activities to complete projects on time
• Improve equipment reliability and operation through analysis of data and experimental evaluation
• Implementing appropriate plans to improve profitability by maximizing efficiency to include waste, speed, delay, and raw material usage using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Manage the coordination, implementation and standardization of manufacturing process improvement and tooling.
• Perform work measurement studies, including time studies, process capability studies and uptime studies to meet pre-determined goals prior to formal handoff of project to manufacturing.
• Be directly involved with continuous improvement teams, which may include being facilitator of a team or group of teams.
• Incorporate safety into all aspects of the department and ensure safe working conditions during all activities associated within the manufacturing environment.
• Research, justify, design and implement new processes, tooling, and equipment.
• Procurement activities including obtaining bids, evaluating bids, and making purchase recommendations.
• Design countermeasures and engineering trials; verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
