WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Power Generation Engineering Co-Op in our Wausau, Wisconsin location. This role has an optional start of (January 2025 through August) or (June 2025 through January). The hourly rate for this position is $21.40 with paid company holidays.

This program gives students the opportunity to preview the work environment in their field of study and:

• Receive hands-on experience
Engineer co-ops working at the Weston Power Plant will gain experience in plant and project engineering, as well as planning, technical support and environmental compliance activities. Students will assist in evaluating equipment and system performance, while maintaining reliability, safety and regulatory compliance. The Engineer co-op will be working in, and learning about, generation at the Weston (coal-fired) Power Plant.
Co-op Additional Details
• This co-op term is for approximately 8 months (January-August or June-January).
• This co-op is part of a five person engineering team at the plant.
The Weston Power Plant is located in central Wisconsin near the city of Wausau.
- High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly
- Good decision making
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and complete projects
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
