How the Power Product Test Team Works
Power team in Skyworks MSS business unit (BU) is focused on bringing new and innovative digital isolation products to the marketplace. This isolation product line continues to leverage its isolation technology and integrate higher functionality to continue to service new business opportunities. The Power Product Test team at Skyworks is a dynamic and growing group that provides the support for this exciting and high growth business. This support includes the development of advanced test solutions including software and hardware design. The engineers on this team collaborate with multiple disciplines as new products are conceived, developed, qualified, and mass produced.
Why this position matters
Skyworks is looking for a college intern capable of interfacing with other product test engineers as well as applications, design, foundry, and assembly engineers. The intern interacts with the entire product team to develop complete and cost-effective test solutions to meet the requirements of the various target markets, including industrial and automotive. Additionally, the isolation product line takes the product test engineer beyond the traditional role and allows them to work heavily with the assembly, foundry, and design teams to solve challenging issues related to design interaction with the process and packaging to improve manufacturability, reliability, and performance.

Engineers inquiring about this position should be willing to learn traditional ATE platforms such as the Teradyne J750, Teradyne Iflex, or Advantest. The position will give exposure to all aspects of product engineering including product qualification, data analysis, and yield improvement. Successful candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and should be comfortable in explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences including more senior engineers and management.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and methodologies under an IC environment
- Strong software development skills; C and Python preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug systems, circuits, and devices
- Coursework in analog and digital circuit fundamentals
Desired Skills
- Interest in High Voltage and High Current Power Products
- Familiarity with semiconductor process and device interaction including parasitic devices
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics to aid with device debug in CMOS and BCD technologies
- Interest in statistical data analysis
- Technical documentation authoring and editing skills
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidate in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related discipline

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
