About the Job
A patient care aide in the Day Surgery Department assists patients with basic nursing care for preoperative and post-operative patients under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:Some of the many skills performed:
- Transporting patients on admission and discharge
- Assisting patients with ambulation as needed
- Assisting patients with undressing/dressing as needed
- Obtaining vital signs
- Performing bedside blood sugar checks (with competency)
- Serve meal trays and feeding patients
- Collect specimens
- Assist with toileting
- Weighing patients
- Distributes drinks
Qualifications:
Education / Licensure / Certification:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
After orientation must demonstrate competence in skills and knowledge required of the position of a patient care assistant
