About Us: Kids on the Move (KOTM) is a well-established non-profit organization committed to supporting the development of children and families in Utah. We offer child care and preschool services to children in our community, including those with special needs. We are looking for a leader in child care and preschool philosophy who can help expand our services to reach more children and families.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary-$65,000-$75,000, depending on experience

Position Overview: The Child Care and Preschool Director at Kids on the Move will oversee all operations of the child care and preschool programs, ensuring high-quality care and education for both neurotypically developing children and those with special needs. This role includes managing staff, ensuring financial and operational efficiency, and fostering relationships with families and the community. We are looking for a dynamic leader who demonstrates self-discipline, curiosity, passion, and optimism. The ideal candidate is results-driven, adaptable, and capable of making informed decisions to continuously improve the program. Candidates must have experience managing a licensed child care facility and a background in education.
Qualifications:
- At least four years of experience managing a licensed child care facility.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary, Preschool, or Special Education (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of child care regulations and best practices.
- Experience with neurotypically developing children and those with special needs.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Compliance:
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset by driving innovation, making informed decisions, and adapting to challenges to improve program quality and outcomes.
- Ensure the center meets all licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee daily operations, including staff management and safety protocols.
- Maintain compliance with state and local regulations, including child-to-teacher ratios and facility safety.
- Education & Curriculum:
- Implement a balanced curriculum that supports neurotypical and special needs children.
- Ensure teaching practices promote school readiness and individual development.
- Support staff in delivering inclusive, developmentally appropriate education.
- Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise child care and preschool staff.
- Provide ongoing professional development and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Family Engagement:
- Serve as the main point of contact for families, addressing concerns and providing updates.
- Build strong relationships with parents and encourage family involvement.
- Financial Oversight:
- Manage the center's budget to ensure financial sustainability.
- Monitor enrollment and optimize operational efficiency.
