Great Hill Solutions seeks a Press Advisor Specialist to support our U.S. Department of State client. The Press Advisor Specialist position will provide support to the DOS Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), Office of Press & Public Diplomacy.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the Bureau's responsibilities to the Bureau of Public Affairs and the NEA Assistant Secretary, including press guidance, speechwriting and congressional liaison support.
- Support NEA/PPD press and outreach functions focused primarily on multiple countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
- Work closely with NEA desk offices, other NEA senior officials and with the Bureau of Public Affairs to provide press guidance and public affairs support on the full range of NEA issues.
- Support the NEA spokesperson and deputy spokesperson on relevant issues and engage with domestic and international media to advance NEA priorities, respond to press inquiries, conduct rapid response in times of crises, and counter disinformation narratives.
- Coordinate Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region press operations, which may include, but not limited to:
- Preparing senior officials for media engagements and executing such engagements
- Supporting the Office of the Spokesperson for daily press briefings and other Office of the Spokesperson activities.
- Drafting and clearing press guidance and media products for release, and developing and enhancing NEA social media and digital content.
- Liaise with White House National Security Council press office as well as interagency press officers to coordinate media engagement.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to office operations related to domestic and international public speaking engagements by NEA and other Department principals.
- Liase with the Bureau of Public Affairs, Diplomatic Security, and the Office of Protocol as needed to provide technical and logistical support for media engagements.
- Manage internal digital archives and records of NEA media products and public outreach efforts.
- Travel with the NEA officials to oversee press and public engagements.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Excellent knowledge of foreign policy in the Near Eastern Affairs region.
- Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance
- Excellent English language (written and verbal) communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate activities in multiple locations
- Ability to work well in a multi-cultural team environment
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the media are highly preferred.
