POSITION SUMMARY
The Preventive Maintenance Technician (PM Tech) position assists in the repair and maintenance of the College’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other internal systems such as doors, keys and locksets. The College is seeking PM Tech’s to assist our trade supervisors in the following areas: Carpentry, Plumbing, and HVAC. These duties include but are not limited to: working on door closers, hinges and doors, installing sheetrock, changing filters, greasing pumps, cleaning coils, changing belts, greasing and changing bearings, servicing pumps & motors, repairing toilets & sinks, and servicing/maintaining/tracking equipment and inventory relevant to the department. Uniforms and personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times. This position reports to the Director and Executive Director of Plant Operations.
- Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks in the installation, repair and maintenance of:
- Electrical systems and equipment
- Doors and door hardware
- Framing, hanging sheetrock and painting
- Hanging acoustic ceiling tile and grid
- Plumbing systems; both basic and complex
- HVAC / Mechanical equipment
- Assist trade supervisors in day-to-day routine, preventative and reactive maintenance
- Read plans and blueprints in the performance of work
- Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
- Support the efforts of the Director and Executive Director of Plant Operations
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of electrical installation, repair, and maintenance; of occupational hazards and safety precautions; and of industrial electrical equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, refrigeration/freezer equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of plumbing including valves, pipes, pipes connectors, etc.
- Skilled in oral and written communication consistent with giving and receiving instruction; problem identification and resolution; interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Ability to multi-task and work both independently as well as with other members of the team
- Strong aptitude for problem solving
- Customer service oriented; polite and professional at all times
- Ability to operate the necessary tools and equipment required in the performance of duties; to read and follow plans and blueprints; and to use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate wiring, etc. to work in confined areas, to distinguish color and depth

- Required Qualifications:
- Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED and completion of standard apprenticeship in the electrical trade
- Work experience: Three (3) years full-time work experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing trade
Physical Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs safely and independently
- Able to work safely from a ladder or lift
Projected Salary Range: $37,030 - $44,440
