as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Contribute to design and lead the implementation of systems that enables Optum to derive information from patient data in a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective mannerEnsure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and efficient codeLead systems design to allow customers to effectively ingest and store patient-related data and for data scientists and engineers to access this data with easeRecommend and make buy vs build trade-offs to accelerate data engineering as a core competency Be a trusted technical advisor to Sr Management, internal stakeholders, and customersMentor and lead other engineers to reach their potentialTo be effective at this role you will need to be:Curious - willing to learn new things and try new things, able to implement prototypes, rolling up your sleevesData-Driven - able to drive decisions and influence based on dataCommunicative - possess an ability to simplify complex concepts, explain AI technologies in ways that can be consumed by non-technical stakeholdersInspiring and empowering - possess influencing skills and natural ability to build trust with machine learning engineers and data scientistsSense of Urgency - bring an agile, let’s get things done attitudeYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:MS degree in computer science or related field 8+ years of experience in distributed systems 5+ years of experience in applied AI InfrastructureHands-on experience with modern languages such as Python, JavaHands-on experience with databases such as NoSQL, SQL, ElasticHands-on experience with cloud computing technologies (AWS/Azure)Proven track record of leading teams to deliver AI pipelines and solutions at scalePreferred Qualifications:Experience in Healthcare AI*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C
Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc
