Manager - Sales & Load Forecasting
Location : Binghamton NY, Rochester NY, Augusta Maine.
Work Type: Office
Salary: $97,000 - $139,000
JOB SUMMARY:
This position will work on a team that has responsibility for the
AVANGRID Networks companies' electric and gas load and sales forecasts
and associated analyses. This position performs technical, analytical,
and statistical duties relating to forecasting, planning and regulatory
support. Responsible for leading major, critical load forecasting and
research projects relating to regulatory proceedings, planning and other
collaboratives in support of Company objectives. Provides support and
advice to meet other business area objectives.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load Forecasting and associated load research analysis
- Electric Peak Demand - forecasting and analysis. Represent Company
interests on various external forecasting / economic analysis task
forces and/or working groups (i.e. ISO, FERC). Work with marketing
department on large customer capacity expectations and impact on
company demand (MW) forecasts
- Margin support statistical and variance analysis of deliveries and
customers. Quantifying weather impact on monthly sales and extreme
weather events. Analysis of current economic data and state policy
goals, quantifying impact on Sales/Customers and relating important
items to upper management
- Regulatory work, such as rate cases and IRs, on Sales and Load
Forecasting issues. Research and develop new methodologies to
accommodate new regulations and SmartGrid initiatives into
forecasting processes
- Performs analysis of data to identify technology adoption and load
trends.
- Develops reports and presentations that communicate research and
forecast results.
- Engages with key stakeholder on topics related to beneficial
electrification to understand their needs and communicate related
Company activity.
- Design load research and special studies by applying statistical
sampling techniques and theory.
- Design, develop, and implement analytical models and visualizations
to provide insight into customer usage patterns.
- Produce class average load profiles from AMI meter data using
accepted industry techniques to support Rate Design, Cost of Service
Studies, Energy Efficiency, Load Forecasting, and Transmission and
Distribution Planning
- Perform statistical modeling to produce weather normalized load
shapes
- Effectively communicate results of analytical models to technical
and non-technical stakeholders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, data
science/analytics, engineering, computer science or a related
quantitative field with at least 7 years Load Forecasting, Research
or similar quantitative analysis experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to efficiently clean and validate large data sets for
analysis.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and utility industry is
beneficial.
- Knowledge of Company databases and reporting capabilities
Skills/Abilities:
- Load forecasting skills
- Strong communications (written and verbal) interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical capabilities
